The Protomen

While the band take their name and the basis of their stories from the Capcom series “Megaman” the music is some of the best rock-opera you are likely to hear.

Murder By Death

Speaking of Westerns…

I stumbled across Murder By Death believing them to be a post-rock band of sorts, and while some of the first album is definitely somewhat instrumental, post-rock they are not. A fantastic baritone lead vocalist lends his hand to rock and country based songs, with western influences, pirates and whiskey blended in!

Maybeshewill

Taken from their second album this track is a pretty good example of the sort of music Maybeshewill make, atmospheric post-rock with film samples mixed in. The newest (third) album drops the samples in favour of pushing the post-rock sound further.

I’ll start off with my favourite genre of music, post-rock. (Description) And I’ll start right at the beginning with the very first post rock band I ever listened to.

Over the coming weeks and months I’ll be showcasing occasional tracks from some of my favourite bands. Each post will contain a brief introduction and a link to what I regard as a great starting track on Spotify. If you haven’t used Spotify before it’s a great free media service which lets you listen to music for free, and bands get paid when you listen to their music!
